Steve Coogan says people who liked the TV series won't be disappointed.
Steve Coogan was on Radio 1 last week, and pretty much admitted that Alan Partridge would be coming to the big screen.
Alan Partridge is a fictional character that gained television fame on The Day Today, a spoof news show where he was the sports presenter. He would eventually land his own show, Knowing Me, Knowing You With Alan Partridge . The show was cancelled after "a tragic accident involving one of Lord Byron's dueling pistols, followed by a disastrous encounter with the head of the BBC". Coogan spoke on the project, saying…
"Yeah, we are planning on making a movie. We're talking about it at the moment. What it is we're not sure. But yes, there are plans afoot to make a film. You need to be aware of that and it might mean you readdress the character... make him slightly more subtle, or build up to it in a different way. That's certainly going to be on our minds, but I think Alan is complex enough to sustain something longer. People who liked the TV series won't be disappointed. "
